4. The building has had all the old utility services removed and new wiring and plumbing is being installed during Evolutionary Development. On average there are four electrical and six plumbing contractors who are engaged for between a few days and a few weeks. They are finding it difficult to work round each other and to know who should be where. Some of the contractors have started to turn up late to the site.

Many floor boards have been lifted in preparation but it is not clear where the radiators are being situated or when each room is going to be worked on by the plumbers. The Chief Accountant, acting as Business Ambassador, is also alarmed that the electrical sockets are being installed in rooms in inaccessible locations.

Answer the following questions about motivating the contractor teams according to Agile Project Management.

How should the Project Manager encourage the resources to operate more successfully?
5. Which 2 statements describe the appropriate application of Agile Project Management when developing the Prioritised Requirements List during Feasibility?
6. During Refinement in Timebox B, a Review Session was scheduled for the Business Visionary to review the products completed during this Timebox, and to agree what needed to be done before these would be acceptable.

Is this an appropriate application of Agile Project Management for this project?
7. Answer the following questions about the acceptance criteria within the project.

Decide whether the approach to setting and using acceptance criteria has been applied appropriately and select the response that supports your decision.

During Solution Development Timebox A, a new Health and Safety requirement arises: the front door is required to have wheelchair access. This is a legal requirement and is a Must Have before any staff or general public access can be allowed. The Solution Development Team will work with the Local Planning Authority Officer, the specialist who identified the requirement, to identify further acceptance criteria for Solution Development Timebox A.

Is this an appropriate action related to acceptance criteria?
8. Several of the web developers working on the project have no Agile experience. When answering the questions in the Project Approach Questionnaire (PAQ), the Project Manager could not agree with the statement 'all members of the project understand and accept the DSDM approach'.

What action should the Project Manager take?
9. Answer the following questions about the use of the Agile principles.

Final checks carried out on the rooms delivered in Timebox A show that two of the items do NOT

meet the required Must Have standards related to the use of traditional

wall coverings and paints. These items have therefore been recognised as NOT delivered and will have to be re-planned.

Which Agile principle MOST influences this course of action?
10. Which 2 statements explain why the Architecture Angels' Chief Accountant would be an appropriate Business Ambassador?
11. How should the Project Manager assist the plumbers to deliver the plumbing?
12. HOTSPOT

Using the Project Scenario, answer the following question about the activities in the Agile project lifecycle.

Lines 1 to 5 in the table below consist of an assertion statement and a reason statement.

For each line identify the appropriate option, from options A to E, that applies. Each option can be used once, more than once or not at all.

Assertion:

1. The rooms and facilities must be deployed into live use at the end of each Timebox.

BECAUSE Reason:

Evolutionary Development and Deployment must be combined in a Timebox where the integration of several teams is required.

2. The tasks associated with each Solution Development Timebox should be included in the Delivery Plan.

BECAUSE

Reason:

A typical Delivery Plan will provide a schedule of Timeboxes and any other high level activities for the imminent Project Increment.

3. The development approach should have been agreed during Foundations.

BECAUSE Reason:

The Development Approach Definition must be created before Evolutionary

Development can commence.

4. The resources from Timber Tigers and Earth Excavations should have been engaged before the start of Evolutionary Development.

BECAUSE

Reason:

Commitment to delivery is based on pre-agreed resource levels at the project level.

5. A final Deployment phase should be held after Timebox C has completed.

BECAUSE Reason:

The Deployed Solution is assessed post-project to confirm whether the expected benefits have been achieved.

13. Which 2 individuals would be suitable for the role of Workshop Facilitator?
14. What should be done to allow the requirement for a secondary exit from the upstairs of the building to be changed into a Must Have priority and moved into Timebox B?
15. Answer the following questions about the acceptance criteria within the project.

Decide whether the approach to setting and using acceptance criteria has been applied appropriately and select the response that supports your decision.

At the beginning of Solution Development Timebox A, the Timebox is being planned in detail. Although Foundations was conducted at a high level, the Prioritised Requirements List was baselined. Now the Solution Development Team is setting detailed acceptance criteria against each requirement.

Is this an appropriate approach to setting detailed acceptance criteria?
16. Using the Project Scenario and the additional information provided for this question in the Scenario Booklet, answer the following questions about Feasibility.

Remember to limit your answers to the number of selections requested in each question.

Which 2 statements describe the appropriate application of Agile Project Management when developing the Solution Architecture Definition (SAD)?
17. The Marketing Director has insisted that detailed requirements for the new coffee bar insurance web pages should be clearly defined in the early phases of the project.

What action should the Project Manager take?
18. The Head Landscape Gardener liaised with several key stakeholders before changing the direction of the pathway around the grounds to ensure all of the new features in

the gardens could be enjoyed.

Which Agile principle MOST influences this course of action?
19. Answer the following questions about actions to be taken by different roles.

The Business Sponsor has decided that the new coffee shop insurance product website pages will include the financial transaction functionality to support the end-to-end sales process. The Business Sponsor views this as a valuable sales tool, enabling customers to pay for insurance policies online. If successful, this new financial transaction functionality is to be made available across all other insurance products. This is a new Must Have requirement.

All parties are to be invited to a workshop to discuss the additional work required to deliver the required solution including the new Must Have requirement. The areas to be discussed include specialist skills required and possible legal, financial and technical standards to be adhered to.

Remember to limit your answers to the number of selections requested in each question.

Which 2 actions should the Business Sponsor take to implement the new Must Have requirement?
20. HOTSPOT

Using the Project Scenario and the additional information provided for this question in the Scenario Booklet, answer the following question about the

responsibilities of the roles in the Agile team.

Lines 1 to 5 in the table below consist of an assertion statement and a reason statement. For each line identify the appropriate option, from options A to E, that applies.

Each option can be used once, more than once or not at all.

Assertion

The Marketing Director, in the role of Business Visionary, is empowered to overrule cost restrictions advised by the Chief Accountant, who is appointed as Business Ambassador.

BECAUSE

The Project-level roles are responsible for directing, managing and co-ordinating the project.

The Procurement Manager is an appropriate representative of the end user of the solution.

BECAUSE

The Business Ambassador should be empowered to make decisions within

the boundaries of their role, without referral to higher authorities outside

the Solution Development Team.

The other specialist gardening team members from Earth Excavations would be suitable as Solution Developers, assigned alongside the Head Landscape Gardener.

BECAUSE

Extra Solution Developers can provide a supporting role for a Lead Developer.

The 'Hoy for Hoy Hall' Action Group members should be assigned as Business Ambassadors.

BECAUSE

The Business Ambassador is responsible for ensuring that business needs are properly analysed.

The Project Manager should plan the communication needed between the Marketing Director, in the role of Business Visionary, and the 'Hoy for Hoy Hall' Action Group.

BECAUSE

The Business Visionary is responsible for promoting the business vision to all interested parties.

Which 2 statements explain why the Architecture Angels' Finance Director would be an appropriate Business Sponsor?
32. Topic 1, Hoy Hall Hotel Refurbishment Project

Scenario:

Hoy Hall Hotel Refurbishment Project

Note: Hoy Hall, a historic, timber-framed building dating from the 17th century, was originally the residence of the Lords of the Manor of Hoy town. The building is registered as a Heritage Building of Special Interest and is subject to restrictions in terms of development. Used as a hotel for over a century, it has recently fallen into disrepair, and for two years it has been completely unused, accelerating its deterioration. The local community has formed the Action Group "Hoy for Hoy Hall" to save the building, and wants to be closely involved in its future success.

After much discussion Hoy Hall has been purchased by Architecture Angels (AA), a small company whose directors are experienced hoteliers. Five years ago they decided to move into the property renovation business and have recently restored two other similarly-endangered buildings for use as hotels.

Architecture Angels are keen to both support local businesses and to have local people run their hotels, giving them a significant amount of autonomy to do this. To maintain core consistency, the hotels use Architecture Angels' Head Office services, such as IT operations, accounting, payroll, stocktaking, compliance, human resources and property management. The Head Office is based 80 miles from Hoy Hall.

Recently Architecture Angels commenced an Agile project to renovate Hoy Hall, which has a large downstairs hall and reception area, and 20 potential bedrooms upstairs. The roof requires extensive repairs and the electrical and plumbing installations require complete replacement. The 40 acres of land around the site are overgrown and need to be restored, and the driveway needs re-laying.

In the hotel industry, the trend for direct customer bookings via the internet has had a major impact on the growth of those hotels with this facility. Online booking now accounts for around 80% of room bookings, with only 20% being made via walk-in and telephone enquiries. Before Hoy Hall can open for business, a reservation system must be fully operational.

Architecture Angels use contractors to manage such work and have good relationships with two local companies: Timber Tigers (TT) who will handle the internal works, and Earth Excavations (EE) who will handle the gardens.

A Project Manager, who has since left the company, started the Feasibility phase. This phase has been continued by the Senior Management Team, which consists of the Sales, Marketing, and Finance Directors and the Chief Executive. This was scheduled to take a month and has almost been completed. A Feasibility Assessment has been produced. An Outline Business Case has been completed which assessed the project as being viable.

The Architecture Angels Senior Management Team will be responsible for Steering the project.

The table below shows the appointments planned for the project team and is subject to change.

Additional Information:

The project is approaching the end of Feasibility. The original Project Manager was involved in drafting a Delivery Plan for the project but not in the outline refurbishment options.

The Senior Management Team generated several options for the refurbishment. All the options included a landscaping solution for the gardens and re-laying of the driveway, as the solution will not be acceptable without these. However, the best solution for the refurbishment is still under debate. The new Project Manager has suggested that a Feasibility Prototype could consist of paper-based drawings for each option. The "Hoy for Hoy Hall" Action Group thinks that a physically-built representation is mandatory for a prototype and wants a small-scale model of the recommendation for the building. The time available to produce this, however, is limited.

Contracts for resources have not yet been signed and will be postponed until the chosen outline solution has been agreed.

Using the Project Scenario and the additional information provided for this question in the Scenario Booklet, answer the following questions about Feasibility.

Remember to limit your answers to the number of selections requested in each question.

Which 2 statements describe the appropriate application of Agile Project Management when developing the Feasibility Assessment?
33. HOTSPOT

Using the project timeline given in the Project Scenario, answer the following question about application of Timeboxing on the Hoy Hall project.

Lines 1 to 5 in the table below consist of an assertion statement and a reason statement. For each line identify the appropriate option, from options A to E, that applies.

Each option can be used once, more than once or not at all.

Assertion:

1. All internal works to be assigned to Timber Tigers throughout the project should be consolidated into one Structured Timebox.

BECAUSE

The Investigation step within each Structured Timebox requires everyone working within the team to jointly agree how the requirements of the Timebox will be met.

2. Acceptance criteria for the front rooms to be developed in Timebox A should be described in detail and agreed during the Timebox Kick-Off

BECAUSE

The aim of the Investigation step within each Timebox is to complete as much of the development work as possible.

3. It is appropriate that both the Evolutionary Development phase and Deployment phase are shown in the first Project Increment.

BECAUSE

Each Timebox should comprise an Evolutionary Development phase and Deployment phase.

4. It is appropriate that the outputs of Timebox C are scheduled for deployment at the end of the first Project Increment.

BECAUSE

A typical Timebox Plan should provide a schedule of high-level activities for the imminent Project Increment.

5. It is appropriate that Earth Excavations create a detailed plan of activities they will complete during Timebox C.

Reason

BECAUSE

The Solution Development Team is responsible for planning the detail of all the work of each Timebox.

34. Using the additional information provided for this question in the Scenario Booklet, answer the following questions about the requirement for a fire exit from the

upstairs of the building.

What is an appropriate reason to classify the need for a secondary exit from the upstairs of the building as a Must Have requirement?
35. Which 2 actions should the Workshop Facilitator take to implement the new Must Have requirement?
36. How should the lack of provision of a fire escape from the upstairs of the building in Timebox B initially be dealt with?
37. Which 2 statements explain why the Architecture Angels' Operations Director would be an appropriate Business Advisor?
38. The Business Sponsor threatened to stop funding if there was no evidence of tangible progress. To reduce this risk, the Business Sponsor was invited to several walk-rounds of the new bedroom and en-suite bathroom facilities throughout the project.

Is this an appropriate application of Agile Project Management for this project?
