AIB-C01, MLA-C02, and SAP-C03: Three AWS Certification Updates and How to Choose
AWS has announced changes affecting three certifications, which test different kinds of work. DumpsBase are developing the practice tests to help you make preparations:
• AIB-C01 AWS Certified AI Business Strategist
• MLA-C02 AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer - Associate
• SAP-C03 AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
Before getting the study resources, you should know them in detail, and make sure which is your proper exam.
AIB-C01, MLA-C02, and SAP-C03: Three AWS Certification Updates
These AWS exams test different kinds of work, and are complementary certifications:
• AIB-C01 is a new certification for professionals who make AI business decisions.
• MLA-C02 updates the skills expected of machine learning engineers.
• SAP-C03 updates the professional-level solutions architect exam, including how architects design for AI workloads.
| Exam | Current development | Main focus | Intended audience |
| AIB-C01: AWS Certified AI Business Strategist | New certification; beta exam available | AI investments, business value, governance, and adoption | Business leaders, product and program managers, consultants |
| MLA-C02: AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer - Associate | Updated exam; English beta available | Building and operating traditional ML and generative AI solutions | ML and MLOps engineers, data engineers, related developers |
| SAP-C03: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional | Registration planned for October 27, 2026; exam delivery for November 17 | Enterprise AWS architecture, including AI integration | Experienced solutions and cloud architects |
AIB-C01: Making the business case for AI
AIB-C01 is for professionals who evaluate and advance AI initiatives without building the models themselves. A product manager might need to decide whether an AI use case deserves funding. A business leader might need to define how success will be measured, address risks, and determine whether a pilot is ready to expand. Those are the decisions this certification is designed to assess.
AIB-C01 exam contains four domains:
• AI fundamentals and literacy
• AI strategy and business value creation
• AI governance and responsible AI leadership, and business readiness, leadership
• AI transformation
Among these four domains, the AI Strategy and Business Value Creation is the largest domain at 28% of scored content. Candidates do not need coding or hands-on AWS implementation experience. They should, however, understand at a business level what AI services can offer and when an AI approach fits the problem.
That distinction matters when comparing it with the other two exams:
• AIB-C01 asks whether and how an organization should pursue an AI initiative.
• MLA-C02 addresses its technical implementation.
• SAP-C03 addresses the wider cloud architecture.
MLA-C02: Operating ML and generative AI solutions
MLA-C02 is the updated AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer - Associate exam. Its audience works directly with AI and ML systems: preparing data, developing models, deploying workflows, and monitoring what happens after release. The update keeps the exam’s four-domain structure but expands its tasks to include foundation models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), Amazon Bedrock, agentic workflows, and responsible AI practices. Traditional machine learning remains part of the exam.
For a candidate, the practical question is how to turn an AI or ML approach into a system that can run reliably. That includes selecting an appropriate modeling approach, preparing the data it needs, deploying the workflow, and observing its performance, security, and cost. MLA-C02 is therefore more technical than AIB-C01, but narrower than SAP-C03’s responsibility for the overall enterprise architecture.
SAP-C03: Designing the environment around AI workloads
SAP-C03 is the forthcoming update to AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional. It is intended for experienced architects who make design recommendations across complex applications and AWS environments. According to AWS’s announcement, the revised scope includes cloud-native design, generative and agentic AI integration, security and governance, cost optimization, resilience engineering, and operational automation.
AI is an addition to this broader architecture role, not the exam’s sole subject. An architect must consider where an AI workload belongs within a solution and how its design affects security, reliability, cost, and operations. MLA-C02 concentrates on building and running AI/ML workflows; SAP-C03 tests decisions about the environment in which those workflows and other applications operate.
AWS plans to open SAP-C03 registration on October 27, 2026, with exam delivery beginning November 17. It has announced five broad domains, but the detailed SAP-C03 exam guide is not yet available. The published changes are useful for planning, though they should not be presented as a final list of weighted objectives.
Which exam fits your role?
• Choose AIB-C01 if you are responsible for evaluating AI opportunities, building the business case, or guiding adoption.
• Choose MLA-C02 if you develop and operate AI/ML solutions.
• Choose SAP-C03 if you design the broader AWS architecture that must support those solutions alongside other enterprise workloads.
After you choose your correct exam, you can come to DumpsBase and choose the practice tests to start preparation.
